Numerical investigation of carbonate acidizing with gelled acid using a coupled thermal–hydrologic–chemical model

Abstract In this work, an experiment-based rheological model that accounts for the influence of polymer concentration, shear-thinning behavior, and temperature variation on in-situ viscosity gelled acid is developed. On basis model, we present a thermal–hydrologic–chemical coupled describes dissolution process carbonate acidization with acid. A sensitivity analysis dynamic regarding variation, adsorption, non-Newtonian behavior injected carried out. The comparison curves patterns obtained by injecting HCl conducted. It found optimal regime has much wider range than neat HCl. observed from numerical simulations reservoir parameters are key factors affect acidizing efficiency, while effect adsorption can be ignored. addition, several recommendations stimulation carbonates acids provided.
